Come join us on Small Business Saturday, November 29th from 10 - 8!
Toy de Jour: Vintage, Toys, Arts & Farts, Winner of Chicago Magazine's BEST NOSTALGIC TRIP AWARD, will celebrate #SmallBusinessSaturday by donating a percentage of the profits from that day to Family Rescue, a local organization that is dedicated to eliminating domestic violence in the Chicago community.
Since 1981, Family Rescue has been passionately and proactively dedicated to eliminating domestic violence in the Chicago community. Family Rescue empowers women and their families to become self-sufficient and lead abuse-free lives. To learn more about Family Rescue, visit their Facebook page.
Regardless of whether you are able to stop by the shop for Small Business Saturday, Sam and Liz (owners, Toy de Jour) hope that when you are in the midst your holiday shopping this season you are able to reflect upon how fortunate you might be, and pay it forward. Whether it's donating directly to Family Rescue by contacting them here, dropping a Toy in a Toys for Tots bin or just reaching out to someone that may be lonely this holiday season. Sometimes the best gift is simply kindness.
That being said, Sam and Liz would also like to remind you that they sell Fart Machines.

July Featured (f)Artist Robots by Kendall Bruns Gallery Night
"While actual robots are becoming more common in our lives and they are used for practical tasks like surgery and manufacturing, I still find myself more interested in fictitious robots than any that I’ve encountered in the real world. From my experience, the idea of a robot is even better than the real thing.
The original idea behind robots was that humans would create humanoid machines to do the work that we didn’t feel like doing ourselves but the most compelling stories that involve reboots don’t really revolve around that aspect. Instead, they’re about what makes robots and humans different from each other, the scary power of mechanical beings, concepts of self-aware super intelligence, and robots with quirky personality. Sometimes robots just look cool and we’re not really sure why we like them, but we do and we want to keep creating them.
I decided to challenge myself to create my own iconic representation of a robot using simple shapes—primarily the hexagon, due to it’s association with balance, strength, bolts and tools."
Free Event. Items in store will also be available for purchase

May Featured (F)artist Mikey Gallery Night
Friday, May 9th, from 6 - 9pm
100% of the profits from sold pieces are being donated to the Lurie Children's Foundation.
About Mikey:
Almost since before he could walk, Mikey has been drawing. Flies, and birds, cars and an occasional imaginary friend were just the beginning. Heavily influenced by the greats like Hanna Barbera and Looney Tunes, he found a way to apply his seriously arrested development and spun it into a career illustrating a world of comic characters.
After a brief stint bringing the M&Ms to life, his talent carried him to something of a high point when he became "Elf certified" as the primary illustrator of the Keebler elves. For more than ten years Ernie, Ma and all the other elves who lived together happily (somehow) in a Hollow Tree were primarily his responsibility.
Eventually, when Kellogg's bought Keebler, Snap, Crackle, Pop, Toucan Sam and Tony the Tiger were added to his stable of product pushing characters. When they moved the whole operation to Battle Creek his non-violent beliefs kept him from moving with the company. It was time for a break.
It's been almost 20 years since Mikey laid down his digital pen and became a recluse in the distant mountains of Bali but his excitement when hearing of the opening of Toy de Jour has inspired him to come out of retirement and bring to life his own new set of friends (since up to this point he's had few others) and now share them with the rest of the world.
RO-b'ODDz, six new friends from his digital petri dish hope to expand and spread like a flesh-eating disease into the hearts and minds of an all new audience! Maybe they'll even get their own cereal brand!

Only for ticketed patrons.
That’s right, before we open our doors for the first time and all of those rare and hard-to-find items are just sitting there waiting for the general public to come in and shop, you’ll get to come in and cherry pick from our stock. There may even be an order of fries in it for attendees…
(There definitely will be.)
